    What to expect ...

    • Initial sessions (assessment sessions) will be used to assess your child's capabilities, characteristics, needs, etc.

    • When the Music Therapy Assessment is completed, I will develop a Music Therapy Treatment Plan for your child. The Music Therapy Treatment Plan will reflect findings from the assessment as well as outline specific goals and objectives for your child

    • You, the parent/guardian, and I will then meet to go over the Music Therapy Treatment Plan so that you can know what we are working on in our sessions

    • Remaining sessions (referred to as "treatment sessions" will be dedicated to working on the goals and objectives outlined in your child's Music Therapy Treatment Plan

    • In addition to the informal verbal updates that I give fairly often, I typically provide documented Progress Updates once or twice a year.

    • Progress Updates may be sent (by me) to applicable persons, endowments, charities, etc. who have provided funding to you for your child to receive Music Therapy services. They love updates, and it's encouraging for them to see how their generousity is helping your child!

     In addition ...

I also often consult my client's school IEP, teachers, and/or the child's parent/guardian regarding concepts that are being taught in your child's class so that I may incorporate, when possible, some of the same concepts in your child's MT treatment sessions. I find that consistency, repetition, and reinforcement are important when working with children who have special needs.

May music touch your life and may you always have a song in your heart.
